Listen to Rush on iHeartRadio

Rush will be on hand for their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, taking place tonight in Los Angeles.  Guitarist Alex Lifeson says he's pleased that his band has finally gotten the nod.  But he tells USA Today it's "a bit ironic that rock music was born in rebellion," yet the Rock Hall seems to have "guidelines for who's acceptable and who's not."

Rush is one of many bands the Rock Hall has been accused of overlooking over the years.  The Canadian trio was inducted following their first appearance on the Rock Hall ballot last year, despite being eligible for induction since 1999.

Rush is being inducted along with Heart, and Randy Newman, who are also expected to attend tonight's gala.  The late Donna Summer, blues great Albert King, are also members of the Rock Hall's Class of 2013, along with Quincy Jones, the rap group Public Enemy, and record executive Lou Adler.

John Fogerty, Jackson Browne, the Eagles' Don Henley, Carole King, and Cheech and Chong are among the many stars who are slated to take part in the event.  Harry Belafonte and members of Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, and Alice In Chains are on the lineup as well.

Highlights from the ceremony will air as an HBO special next month.
