SeaWorld filed a complaint against the U.S. OSHA [Occupational Safety and Health Administration] investigator Lara Padgett, accusing her of leaking confidential company documents to the makers of the documentary Blackfish. OSHA investigated the marine-themed park after the death of an orca trainer at the Orlando location in 2010.

The trainer's death, Dawn Brancheau, was the focus for most of Blackfish and led to the restriction of trainers, now no longer allowed in close, unprotected contact with the animals.

Now, Blackfish director Gabriela Cowperthwaite has denied SeaWorld's accusation. Cowperthwaite stated in a letter to the Associated Press that Padgett was not part of the product of the documentary and that OSHA even denied several requests to be apart of the film.
