In a history-making move, Florida lawmakers passed a bipartisan bill that will legalize a non-euphoric strain of medical marijuana known as "Charlotte's Web." This is the first time ever in Florida where a legal marijuana bill cleared the House.
The House Criminal Justice Committee spent about two hours listening to testimonials from doctors and parents advocating the strain of medical pot, pointing out major turnarounds in patients in states where marijuana - medical or recreational - is legal like Colorado. Charlotte's Web is a particular strain of medical marijuana that helps treat epileptic seizures in children.
This is perhaps a preamble to this fall's medical marijuana ballot measure that would legalize all strains of medicinal cannabis. Recent polls show an overwhelming approval rating from Florida voters.
