The Department of Veterans Affairs has been in the midst of controversy lately with accusations that the department manipulated data to hide long wait times and the neglect of patients. President Obama spoke at a press conference today, addressing the issue. Obama promised a forceful response to the accusations.

The president called the misconduct dishonorable, saying:

“I will not stand for it. Not as commander in chief, but also not as an American. None of us should.”

The president went on to say:

“Once we know the facts, I assure you, if there was misconduct, people will be punished.”
