Early Career

Kaká was born in GamaBrazil April 22, 1982 and began his football career (or, as you Americans say, soccer) at age eight in São PauloJust as his career started blooming, Kaká suffered a spinal fracture from a swimming accident that could have ended his future in soccer and possibly leaving him paralyzed. Thankfully, Kaká made a full recovery.

Kaká began his senior career in São Paulo in 2001 and scored 12 goals and 27 appearances, eventually leading the team to its first and only Torneio Rio championship in which Kaká scored 2 goals in 2 minutes.

AC Milan

Kaká's growing reputation got him signed to the Italian football (soccer) club AC Milan in 2003 in an €8.5 million deal, an amount club owner Silvio Berlusconi later described as "peanuts."

Within just a month, Kaká broke the starting line-up, replacing Rui Costa as the attacking midfielder.

International Career

Kaká began in international career as part of the Brazilian International team in the 2002 FIFA World Cup; the Brazilian team went on to win the championship that year.

Kaká is widely considered one of the world's best players, winning titles such as 2007 FIFA World Player of the Year, the 2007 World Soccer Player of the Year, and the 2007 IFFHS World's Best Playmaker among many other honors.
