In a decision that came in yesterday evening, just in time for Valentine's Day, a Virginia judge has overturned the State's ban on same-sex marriage. Virginia is the first "southern" state to allow gay marriage.
U.S. Distric Judge Arenda Wright Allen issued a stay of order of the ban during the appeals process; lawyers for the clerks in Norfolk and Prince William County is expected to file for appeals to uphold the ban. Until the issued is fulling resolved same-sex couples will not be allowed to legally marry.
