13 Ukrainian troops on Snake Island delivered what would become some of their final words to a Russian warship threatening them off the coast.
The island, located in the Black Sea is strategically important to the Ukrainians due to its location close to Romania at the edge of the border. When the Russian ship identified itself and demanded the surrender of the soldiers on the island, the troops replied, "Russian warship, go f**k yourself."
The 13 border guards who were attacked and killed by the Russians will be awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine, the highest honor for the Ukrainian military.
