Heavy rains resulted in mudslides that have killed at least 15 people in Southern California on Tuesday. The mudslides also damaged the million dollar estates of the wealthy celebrities that live there. Following the storms, Oprah Winfrey showed the damage the mud caused to her property, uploading photos and video to her Instagram account.
In one video, Oprah showed an area where a fence used to be, now filled with mud and debris.
"Thanks everyone for your prayers and concern. My property is fine. Some mud , and minor damage that pales in comparison to what my neighbors are going thru. #mudslides🙏🏾"
Another post showed a massive gas fire burning in the distance, and in the next slide Oprah showed the mud was so deep it went up to her knees. The final slide of her post captured a helicopter on its way to save her neighbors and search for missing people.
What a day! Praying for our community again in Santa Barbara. Woke up to this blazing gas fire. then swipe left to see how deep the mud is in my backyard. Helicopters rescuing my neighbors. Looking for missing persons. 13 lives lost. #Mudslides.
As the rain subsided, bulldozers, tractors and military grade trucks are all being used to clear the roads to make way for more rescue crews heading to the upscale coastal community of Montecito in Santa Barbara County. Officials say that dozens of people are missing and hundreds still trapped in their homes.
