FPL has brought down Florida's last coal-fired plant.

The demolition happened in Martin County just after 9 Wednesday morning.

Explosives took down the nearly 500 foot tall coal stack and 800 foot coal shoot at the Indiantown Cogeneration Plant. The remainder of the plant will be torn down in phases.

It's expected to take two years to completely clean up the property.

Florida Power and Light says it marks the end of nonrenewable energy in our state.

Duke Energy demolished its coal fired plant in Crystal River, on Florida's west coast, over the weekend.
