A project that cost nearly $100,000 was shut down for being 'torturous' and 'annoying' according to local residents. The 'singing road' in Friesland, a coastal city in the Netherlands, was a 490ft strip of road that played the song De Alde Friezen as drivers cruised past. Sietske Poepjes, Vice Governor of the Friesland Province conceded that the project was a complete failure.
