This is pretty hardcore. I had never stopped to think that for all those years leading up to state-of-the-art crash test dummies, actual PEOPLE had to strap themselves in and go along for the ride.
The video was shot in Germany somewhere in the 1970's. It features slow motion video of the participants and is not for the faint of heart.
With modern safety precautions such as steering wheel and side-mounted airbags, I'm glad modern cars are a lot better and reducing whiplash.
...And, of course, I would be remiss if I didn't immediately think of this Simpsons scene while watching.
