This is as rare as a car can get. A one-of-a-kind 1965 Ford Mustang Shelby GT250R sold at theMecum Auctionsin Kissimmee, Florida for just over $4 million on Saturday, the highest price ever paid for a Mustang and $220k more than the same car sold for in 2020.
The car is a true “one-of-a-kind;” it’s the prototype model for the GT350R competition model, of which only 34 were ever made. It’s the second time this car has sold for more than the second-most valuable Mustang, the 1968 GT 390 from theSteve McQueenmovie “Bullitt” that sold in 2020 for $3.74 million.
