Rays Drop Opener To White Sox

The Chicago White Sox (4-22) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (13-14) 9-4 on Friday night in Chicago.

The White Sox built a 5-0 lead after six innings en route to the win. Though the Rays scored four runs in the final three innings, Chicago matched them every step of the way to earn a 9-4 win.

Zach Eflin (1-3, 4.08) allowed five runs - four of them earned - on nine hits in which he struck out four and walked two. Erasmo Ramirez made his second appearance of the season for the Rays, allowing four runs - two of them earned - on three hits in two innings of work.

The Rays look to bounce back and even the series with the White Sox on Saturday. Aaron Civale (2-2, 3.90) is the scheduled starter for the Rays. First pitch Saturday is scheduled for 7:10 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 6:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
