Rays Take Series From Red Sox

The Tampa Bay Rays (23-22) defeated the Boston Red Sox (22-22) 7-5 on Thursday night at Fenway Park. The win gives the Rays a series victory in the four-game series between AL-East rivals.

The Rays built a 5-1 lead before the Red Sox rallied to tie the game 5-5 in the sixth inning. Tampa Bay broke through in the ninth inning with a RBI single from Isaac Paredes and a sacrifice fly Richie Palacios to make it 7-5, which would be the final score.

Zack Littell got the start and allowed four earned runs on seven hits in five innings of work in which he struck out three and walked one. Manuel Rodriguez (1-1, 3.68) got the win after pitching the eighth inning. Jaosn Adam got the first two outs of the ninth inning before he was forced to be removed because the Rays exceeded their number of mound visits. Erasmo Ramirez then got the final out to earn his first save of the season, and his first save in the majors since 2020.

The Rays now head to Toronto for a three-game series against the Blue Jays on Friday night. Tyler Alexander (1-2, 5.45) is scheduled to start of the Rays, opposed by Chris Bassitt (3-5, 5.06) for Toronto. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
