The Colorado Rockies (1-1) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (1-1) 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Steinbrenner Field to even the opening series at one game apiece.
Zack Littell (0-1, 1.50) was impressive in his first start of the season, allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out seven and walking none. The Rays offense hit the ball hard but were unable to score runs until they were already down 2-0, getting one back in the eighth inning when Taylor Walls drove in the only run of the day for Tampa Bay.
The Rays will now look to take the rubber game of the first season-opening series against the Rockies. First pitch between Tampa Bay and Colorado is scheduled for 1:40 PM on Sunday afternoon - pregame coverage begins with Chris Adams-Wall hosting This Week In Rays Baseball at high noon on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
