Rays Beat Pirates In First Night Game At Steinbrenner Field

The Tampa Bay Rays (3-1) defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates (1-4) 6-1 on Monday night at Steinbrenner Field. It was the first night game for the Rays at their temporary home, Steinbrenner Field, after playing three afternoon games against the Rockies over the weekend.

Jake Mangum led the way with the first four hits of his MLB career, going 4-for-4 with two stolen bases. His biggest hit came with a two-run single in the fourth inning that turned a 2-0 Rays lead into a 4-0 Rays lead and gave the Rays a big inning to take control of the game.

Drew Rasmussen (1-0, 0.00) got the his first MLB start in almost two years, pitching five shutout innings on two hits in which he struck out four and walked none.

The Rays will now try to win the series against the Pirates on Tuesday night. First pitch from Steinbrenner Field is scheduled for 7:05 PM on Tuesday - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball
