The Tampa Bay Rays (29-27) defeated the Houston Astros (30-26) 13-3 on Friday night to win the opener of the series in Houston.
Tied 3-3 after six innings, the Rays erupted with five runs in the seventh and five more in the eighth to turn this game into a blowout. Junior Caminero led the way going 3-for-6 with six RBIs to lead the offense.
The Rays and Astros now meet in the second game of the four-game series on Friday night. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 8:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 7:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
