Red Sox Blank Rays To Win Series

The Boston Red Sox (52-45) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (50-46) 1-0 on Saturday evening in Boston. With the win, the Red Sox clinched a series victory in the four-game series between AL-East rivals.

The only offense of the game came in the fourth inning when Carlos Narvaez hit a RBI single to give Boston a 1-0 lead. That would be more then enough offense for Red Sox starter Garrett Crochet (10-4, 2.23) who pitched his first career complete game, allowing just three hits while striking out nine and walking none.

Rays starter Shane Baz (8-5, 4.17) was excellent as well, just not good enough against the game Crochet pitched. Baz allowed one earned run on five hits in six and one-third innings in which he struck out three and walked two.

The Rays will now look to avoid being swept in the four-game series against at Fenway Park coming up on Sunday afternoon. First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 1;35 PM - pregame coverage begins with Chris Adams-Wall hosting This Week in Rays Baseball at high noon on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
