The FBI arrested two men in Utah for allegedly placing an incendiary device under a vehicle belonging to KSTU, a FOX affiliate known as Fox 13 News Utah. The device, found in Salt Lake City on Friday (September 12), failed to detonate as intended, according to court records obtained by KUTV.
The suspects, identified as Adeeb Nasir, 58, and Adil Justice Ahmed Nasir, 31, were apprehended after FBI agents and local bomb squads searched a home in Magna, Utah. During the search, authorities discovered additional explosives, firearms, illegal narcotics, and hoax weapons of mass destruction. Neighboring homes were evacuated for safety.
The incident occurred two days after the assassination of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, drawing increased media presence to the area. The device was found near an occupied building, prompting immediate response from police and fire department bomb squads.
Fox 13 News Utah, owned by Scripps, confirmed the news about its vehicle and stated, "FOX 13 News is working closely with law enforcement and our risk management team, with the safety of our employees as our top priority." Both national and local media outlets have heightened security following the Kirk assassination.
The suspects could face charges related to weapons possession and threats of terrorism, although their motives remain unclear. The relationship between the two men has not been disclosed.
