The Tampa Bay Rays (9-7) defeated the Chicago White Sox (6-11) 8-5 on Tuesday night in Chicago. It was the fourth straight win for the Rays, and the first game of a three-game series in the Windy City.
Shane McClanahan (1-1, 3.95) got the start and pitched five innings of two-hit ball in which he allowed three runs - two of them earned - while striking out four and walking four. Bryan Baker earned his third save of the season in this game, coming in to record the game's final out.
The Rays got three runs in the first inning and never trailed in this one. They built a lead of 4-0 before Chicago got three in the third, then added two runs in the sixth and seventh inning to make it a 8-4 game. The White Sox got two back in the ninth but the Rays were able to hang on to a 8-5 win.
