Rays Shut Out Giants

The Tampa Bay Rays (19-12) defeated the San Francisco Giants (13-19) 3-0 on Friday night at Tropicana Field to open the three-game interleague series.

Shane McClanahan (3-2, 3.10) got the win pitching six shutout innings in which he allowed five hits while striking out five and walking none. Bryan Baker earned his eighth save of the season working a perfect ninth inning. Yandy Diaz and Junior Caminero both hit solo homers in this one, while Chandler Simpson added a sacrifice fly en route to a 3-0 win.

The Rays will now look to win the series against the Giants when they meet in the middle game on Saturday night. First pitch Saturday is scheduled for 6:10 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 5:30 PM on 95.7 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
