The New York Yankees (31-22) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (34-16) 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium. The loss snapped the Rays winning streak at five games and the Rays leave the Brox with a 4.5 game lead over New York in the AL East race.
Ryan Weathers got the start and was brilliant for New York, pitching seven shutout innings in which he allowed four hits and struck out four while walking three. Drew Rasmussen matched him step for step, pitching seven shutout innings of his own in which he allowed five hits while striking out six and walking one.
Tied 0-0 in the ninth inning, the game ended in the bottom of the ninth when Aaron Judge hit a two-run, walk-off homer that lifted New York to the 2-0 walk-off win.
