Royals Blow Out Rays

The Kansas City Royals (34-46) blew out the Tampa Bay Rays (43-33) 12-5 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field to give Kansas City wins the first two games of the four game series.

Kansas City hit two homers in the first inning and led 2-1 going into the fifth. Kansas City took control of the game with four runs in the fifth and added five in the eighth to turn the game into a blowout. Shane McClanahan (6-6, 3.30) took the loss, allowing six runs - just two of them earned - on six hits in six innings of work in which he struck out four and walked one.

The Rays will once again look to bounce back when they meet the Royals in the third game of the four game series on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch Wednesday is scheduled for 6:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.7 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
