The Baltimore Orioles (60-63) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (74-48) 4-3 in ten innings on Saturday night at Tropicana Field. For the Rays, it was their second straight loss.
The Orioles took a 3-1 lead in the top of the sixth thanks in part to homers from Pete Alonso and Christian Encarnacion-Strand. The Rays got a RBI triple from Cedric Mullins in the bottom of the sixth and a Junior Caminero infield RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game 3-3.
In the tenth, the Orioles got the ghost runner home with a RBI single from Tyler O'Neill which would prove to be the difference in the game. Jonathan Aranda went 3-for-5 on the night, while Yandy Diaz and Chandler Simpson both had two hits apiece.
28,055 fans filled in to Tropicana Field to take in this one, their second sellout of the season and their largest crowd to see a game at home since 2023.
The Rays will look to bounce back in the third game of the four-game series on Sunday afternoon. First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 12:15 PM - pregame coverage begins with Chris Adams-Wall hosting This Week In Rays Baseball at 10:30 AM on 95.7 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
