The Tampa Bay Rays (84-57) defeated the Texas Rangers (70-72) 7-5 on Friday night at Globe Life Field in Arlington. The win snapped a ten-game losing skid for the Rays when they play in Arlington, Texas.
The Rangers got a run in the second, but the Rays answered with single runs in the third and fourth to take a 2-1 lead. Tampa Bay exploded with a four-run fifth inning to take a 6-1 lead, with Jonathan Aranda, Junior Caminero, and Victor Mesa all coming up with RBI hits. Yandy Diaz went 3-for-5 in this one, while Aranda, Caminero and Chandler Simpson all had two hits apiece.
The Rangers answered with a grand slam from Elias Diaz in the seventh inning to pull within 6-5. The Rays got an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning, which would prove huge when Texas got one back in the bottom of the frame to make it a 7-6 final score.
