The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 in game three of the World Series on Monday night. With the win, the Brewers have taken a commanding 3-0 lead and are one win away from capturing their first title in franchise history.
The Brewers got on the board with two runs in the third before erupting for eight runs in the fifth inning to take control of the game. Rays starter Freddy Peralta (2-1, 2.95) allowed five of the earned runs on seven hits in four and two-third innings of work. With two outs in the fifth the Brewers got to Cam Booser for four hits and four earned runs - he was unable to get an out - before Cam Sulser came in. He also allowed a run before getting the final out of the fifth, by which point the Brewers had a 10-0 lead.
Yandy Diaz singled to start the bottom of the first inning for the Rays. That would be the only hit the Rays would get until the ninth inning, when Cedric Mullins hit a single for the team's second hit of the day. Moments later Yandy Diaz hit a RBI double to make it 10-1. That would be the final score - Yandy finished the game 2-for-4 with a RBI.
The Rays will try to keep the series alive when they meet the Brewers in game four of the best-of-seven series on Tuesday night. Griffin Jax (0-1, 6.00) is the scheduled starter for the Rays. First pitch is scheduled for 8:00 PM on Tuesday at Tropicana Field - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting Inside Pitch at 6:30 PM on 95.7 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
