Why was this 2017 U.S. prison riot kept secret?

Back in September 2017, a New Mexico prison riot popped off and then was quelled all within several minutes. So why is the information only now being released?

In the video, a guard is patrolling a cell block on his nightly duties. One inmate passes a note to the guard, who then passes the note off to another inmate. Only after pausing to exchange words with Clifton Bloomfield, a serial killer sentenced to 195 years in prison due to a plea deal with prosecutors in his case.

For whatever reason, the guard opens his cell. Take a look at the video and please leave a comment below! -Fritz
