Donald poised to take over Disney

Mickey Mouse was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks at the Walt Disney Studios in 1928. An anthropomorphic mouse who typically wears red shorts, large yellow shoes, and white gloves, Mickey is one of the world's most recognizable characters. He has been the symbol and mascot for the Disney empire ever since. If a new group has their way, that could all change by 2028.

After 100 years, there is a ground swell of support to change the face of the Walt Disney Company. Several organizations contend that Mickey Mouse has not kept up with the times and has become antiquated after a century of leading the popular brand. 

Cass Hamada, who worked on the film “Big Hero 6”, is the head of an anti Mickey group named “Donald time.”

“We feel Mickey has had his time, and frankly , he has not done much for the company in the past 40 years. What was his last big movie? Fantasia?” Cass said in a statement today. “We feel Donald Duck should be the new face of the Walt Disney Company. After 100 years he deserves the position. Donald Duck is more popular with children and adults and has stayed more current with the times.”

A new Orlando Magic Mall survey found that 78% poled liked Donald Duck better, 13% liked Mickey Mouse with 8% saying they liked the icons the same. 

Olivia Flaversham who worked on “The Great Mouse Detective” and Webby Vanerquack of “DuckTales” agrees with the Donald take over. They have joined the “Donald Time” movement pushing to have Donald Duck take over as the face of Disney by the year 2028.
