The ongoing drama of Johnny Depp’s defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard continues and appears to be sparking debates both in and out of the courtroom.
In a new viral TikTok video, creator Summer Canova shows an LA Starbucks capitalizing on that drama and asking their customers to pick sides in an effort to gain tips.
The video shows Summer's car pull through the Starbucks drive-thru where 2 tip jars sit on the windowsill, one labeled “Johnny Depp” sitting next to an empty “Amber Heard” jar.
The TikToker added to the already filled “Johnny Depp” jar as she cheers, “One for Johnny!” and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” theme song plays.
She captioned the viral video, “Supporting our local baristas and our man.”
Not everyone thinks the creative tip jar is as entertaining, with some keyboard warriors calling the new trend insensitive. On the flip side, many commenters were eager to chime in to express their support for Johnny Depp.
But this is not the first time that Starbucks baristas have started controversy by using celebrity feuds to earn tips. TikTokers have previously shared videos showing tip jars for Pete Davidson vs. Kanye West during their infamous social media drama, and Will Smith vs. Chris Rock after the Oscars slap heard 'round the world.
