Did you ever meet someone who you immediately liked?  You just see how other people react to them and instantly know they are special.  Right?  That’s my man, Rauce Padgett.  He’s a different kind of cool.  He’s cool because he’s completely true to himself without being some pretentious hipster douchebag begging for you to pay attention to his vision of individuality.  Lol.  Nope. That’s not really how Rauce rolls.  Rauce genuinely wants to make you laugh.  That’s pretty much it.  He loves entertaining.  He constantly tells me stories about how much he enjoys making people smile, regardless of the medium.   It’s infectious.  Just being around him puts you in a better mood.

I say all of this for a good reason.  This past Friday, Rauce left the show early to attend The Woody Awards.  The Woody Awards is an award show just for the performing employees of Universal Studios and, apparently, they are REALLY big deal.  Winning a Golden Woody is like Employee of the Year on Barry Bonds level steroids.  But to Rauce, it’s WAY bigger than that.  It’s like being a Gold Medalist hero, wrapped in a Nobel Peace Prize with a side order of Global Humanitarian of the Year…award.  It’s because it represents being great at what he considers the coolest thing you can do for someone, and that’s make them smile.  Well, he did just that.  He won the Best Theatrical Performance Golden Woody.  Then, while accepting his award, proceeded to do about 8 minutes of improv that destroyed a room of people that aren’t easy to destroy. It was so nice to see many co-workers, friends and comedy rivals wish Rauce congratulations on his big win.

Congrats from the entire cast of The Jim Colbert Show, Rauce, nobody deserves it more than you.

Below is a clip from his acceptance speech.  Enjoy.  - JIM
