Thank goodness this didn't happen on 99... A street in Hollister, CA was recently repaved, which has caused mass confusion.
The lanes on the newly paved streets in were painted incorrectly, causing confusion and people to drive in zig-zags.
.
Mayor Ignacio Velazquez had this to say:
"I saw it later in the afternoon on my way home from work, and I thought, 'Woah, this is the strangest thing I’ve seen.' "
The original goal of the newly paved and redesigned road to was to add a bike lane, as well as large central circle (roundabout) to slow traffic and prevent racing. The lanes, intended to be slightly curved, ended looking like zig-zags. The city is citing poor execution of the original plans and will have contractors fix the lanes this coming Monday with no added cost to taxpayers.
