After 4 months of closure due to the Coronavirus pandemic Walt Disney World has reopened the Magic Kingdom this weekend, and our very own Scott Harris went and checked it all out. Here are some of the details from his Sunday at the park.
After arriving 30 minutes after the park opened, the temperature check was a breeze along with security. The monorails have no special guards separating guests.
As part of the reopening Disney announced that the park would be operating at a reduced capacity and requiring guests to make reservations before arriving. As you can see in the video below, maintaining safe social distancing was very easy to do.
This is probably the most popular item you will see throughout the park, yep the hand sanitizer dispenser. They were stayed at the entrance of every ride, just before you got on a ride, and the exit of a ride. The same could be said for ever restaurant and store.
Rides even get sanitized on a regular basis for added safety to the guests.
At first I wondered what the crowd would be like but you can tell the reduced capacity was done to help make people feel very safe throughout the day. Every guest was wearing a mask and never seemed to have a problem with following the rules.
I'm sure you wondered what the wait times were like, well very simply they were very short.
This was the longest wait of the day, and even then it was closer to 20 minutes. Space Mountain and Thunder Mountain were both walk right onto the ride.
At the end of the day, it felt good to to Disney again but it did feel weird. I felt safe the entire time and feel like Disney has put very good safety measures for all the guests to enjoy the parks safely. As always don't forget subscribed to our podcast so that you never miss an episode.
