Woman Arrested in Connection with Death of Neglected Teenager

Daytona Beach, FL - A Florida woman has been arrested after being accused in the death of a neglected 14-year-old boy earlier this year.

Daytona Beach police announced the arrest of 43-year-old Talia Nelson on Friday.

Nelson faces charges of first-degree murder, aggravated manslaughter of a child, and aggravated child abuse in connection with the death of a 14-year-old boy earlier this year.

Investigators say police responded to a call on January 1st regarding a neglected teenager at the Carolina Club Apartments.

Upon arrival, they found a 14-year-old male in a state of severe neglect.

The boy was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy determined the cause of death to be homicide, prompting a months-long investigation.

Detectives gathered evidence and ultimately obtained a warrant for Nelson's arrest.

Nelson was booked on Friday and remains held without bond.

During Nelson's first court appearance on Saturday, a public defender was appointed, and the judge found probable cause for the charges.

Nelson has been prohibited from having any contact with victims or minors.

The investigation into the teen’s death remains ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
