Miami-Dade County, FL - Several Miami-Dade County Public Schools have taken a proactive approach to school safety by implementing artificial intelligence (AI) gun detection technology instead of traditional metal detectors.

The district's decision comes in response to a growing concern among parents for their children's safety in the wake of recent school shootings.

While Broward County Public Schools have adopted metal detectors, Miami-Dade has opted for a more advanced technological solution.

The AI gun detection system, developed by ZeroEyes, utilizes existing security cameras to detect firearms.

The software analyzes video footage in real-time, identifying potential threats and alerting school officials within seconds.

Miami-Dade Schools conducted successful blind tests of the technology, demonstrating its effectiveness in detecting firearms.

The district believes that AI gun detection offers a more efficient and cost-effective solution compared to metal detectors, which require significant staffing and infrastructure.

The AI technology is expected to be implemented in Miami-Dade schools in the near future, following approval and budgeting.

While the district has already invested in security measures such as increased camera surveillance and K-9 units, they believe that AI gun detection will further enhance school safety.
