Miami, FL - A South Florida prisoner escaped custody in a Maserati while being transported to a Miami hospital on Saturday.
According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, 36-year-old Theodrick Collins was apprehended at PortMiami earlier in the day on outstanding warrants.
Collins was taken to the emergency room at Jackson Memorial Hospital due to complaints of chest pain.
While leaving the hospital with a police officer, Collins allegedly managed to slip away and steal a waiting silver Maserati.
The Maserati, bearing an Alabama tag "GBT862," was later spotted in Jupiter by a license plate reader.
Collins is described as approximately 5'9" and of medium build.
His driver's license is from Alabama, and his reason for being in Miami is currently unknown.
A multi-agency search is underway to locate Collins.
Authorities are urging the public to be vigilant and report any sightings of Collins or the Maserati.
