Tallahassee, FL - A recent report has crowned a Florida airport as the most expensive airport to fly out of in the United States.

According to data analyzed by financial services platform SmartAsset, Tallahassee International Airport (TLH) passengers spend an average of $491 per domestic round-trip ticket, significantly higher than the national average of $306.

This cost places Florida’s capital city airport at the top of the list for the steepest airfares nationwide.

SmartAsset attributes the high costs to factors such as the limited number of airlines operating out of Tallahassee International, fewer direct flight options, and reduced competition.

These conditions contribute to elevated ticket prices for travelers departing from the airport.

Florida made a prominent appearance on the list, with Orlando International Airport (MCO) ranking as one of the most affordable, averaging $226 per round-trip ticket, making it one of the least expensive in the nation.

This stark contrast highlights the range of airfare costs across the Sunshine State.

As travelers prepare for the busy holiday season, experts advise considering alternative airports when booking flights to save money.

Nearby options like Jacksonville International Airport or even Orlando International may offer more competitive prices for Florida residents.
