Driver Flees After Crashing SUV Into South Florida Library, Sparking Fire

Hollywood, FL - A driver is at large after allegedly crashing an SUV into the Hollywood Branch Library, igniting a fire and causing significant damage.

According to authorities, the accident occurred just after 3 a.m. on Saturday at 2600 Hollywood Blvd.

Hollywood Police reported that the vehicle, identified as a Range Rover, was traveling westbound on Hollywood Boulevard when it veered off the road, jumped the curb, and collided with the corner of the library. 

Upon impact, the SUV burst into flames, charring part of the building's exterior and shattering windows.

Video footage from the scene shows the charred remains of the vehicle outside the library. 

A witness reported seeing the driver flee the scene on foot before authorities arrived.

No injuries have been reported, as the library was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

Fire officials stated that the first floor of the library sustained damage from the crash, and inspectors are currently evaluating the extent of the impact on the second floor.

Restoration crews have been on-site throughout the day, working to repair and restore the affected areas. 

Hollywood Police are seeking public assistance as the investigation continues.
