Fort Pierce, FL - A $600 million development featuring a large Wavegarden Cove surf park is now under construction in Fort Pierce with completion expected by late 2026.
Construction has begun on a large-scale development project in Fort Pierce, Florida, that will feature a surf park as its central attraction.
The project, named Koa Bay, spans 204 acres and includes residential, commercial, and hospitality components.
At the center of the development is a 56-module Wavegarden Cove wave pool.
This technology can produce approximately 450 waves per hour, ranging in height from two to seven feet.
The pool is designed to accommodate both left and right breaks and offer ride times of up to 20 seconds, depending on the wave setting.
The only other 56-module Wavegarden Cove currently in operation is located in South Korea.
Koa Bay will also include 1,000 residential units, two hotels, and multiple retail spaces.
The layout is designed to encourage pedestrian activity, with planned walking paths and communal areas.
According to the development’s website, surf memberships will be offered and will range in price from $1,080 to $5,625 annually.
The site is located off W. Midway Road, near I-95, and within proximity to existing commercial infrastructure, including facilities operated by Amazon and Tropicana.
Developers have not yet released detailed construction updates, as the site is largely obscured by tree coverage.
The project is scheduled to be completed and open to the public by the end of 2026, according to the developer’s timeline.
