In the wake of last week's deadly mass shooting at FSU, the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office says it is increasing law enforcement presence at schools.

Sheriff Richard Del Toro says it is in response to "senseless acts of violence at schools across our nation" but did not cite the Florida State University shooting specifically.

He reminds parents and students that there is no credible threat to any St. Lucie public school at this time, calling it a proactive measure to ensure safety.

Del Toro is not sharing specifics about the increase. Under Florida law, public schools must have at least one officer on campus at all times during the school day.
