Broward County, FL - Janice Turner, mother of Sean Kingston, was sentenced to five years in prison for her role in a $1 million fraud scheme involving luxury goods, with her son set to be sentenced in August.

Turner has been sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted in a $1 million fraud case in Broward County.

Turner, 63, and her 35-year-old son, Kisean Anderson (Sean Kingston), were found guilty of wire fraud and conspiracy following a March trial.

The charges stemmed from a scheme in which the pair allegedly defrauded several businesses, including a jeweler, a luxury car dealership, and a high-end furniture manufacturer, by using fake wire transfers to purchase expensive goods.

During her sentencing, Turner tearfully pleaded for leniency, asking the judge to consider her age and health.

Her attorney, Humberto Dominguez, expressed mixed emotions after the ruling, acknowledging both successes and losses in the case.

"We will handle the appeal," he said, noting that the judge did what was fair.

Turner will serve three years of supervised release after her prison term.

She could also face deportation to Jamaica and be barred from reentering the U.S. after serving her sentence.

Although Sean Kingston did not attend the hearing, Dominguez confirmed that Kingston submitted a letter to the judge requesting a lighter sentence for his mother.

Turner’s defense team had sought a reduced sentence of 30 months, significantly below the recommended 63 to 78 months.

Turner and Kingston were arrested in May 2024 after a raid at their Southwest Ranches home, where evidence tied them to the fraudulent activities.

Kingston’s sentencing hearing is set for August 15th.
