FAA: Delta Airplane Wing Falls Apart During Flight from Orlando to Texas

A Delta Boeing 737 airplane landed safely after a wing flap partially broke off during a flight from Orlando to Texas, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The FAA is investigating the wing mishap on Delta Flight 1893 which had 62 passengers and six crew members on board. The flight from Orlando was bound for Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

CNN reported that passengers noticed something dangling from the back of the wing. A wing flap helps pilots control the aircraft during takeoff and landing.

Delta said after the plane landed “it was observed that a portion of the left wing’s flap was not in place."

No one was injured and the aircraft was taken out of service.
