Actor Daniel Stern, best known for roles in Home Alone, City Slickers and Rookie of the Year, was reportedly hospitalized after suffering a medical emergency earlier this month, the Ventura County Fire Department confirmed to TMZ on Tuesday (October 14).

The department said it received a report at a residence in Somis, California, in which an individual, identified as Stern, 68, had to be assessed by firefighters and transported to a nearby hospital for an unclear medical issue. The actor has since been released from the hospital and a representative told TMZ that he's "now doing well."

Stern played Marv Murchins, one of the two 'Wet Bandits' alongside Joe Pesci, in the original Home Alone released in 1990 and its sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, released in 1992. The actor also starred alongside Billy Crystal and Bruno Kirby in the film City Slickers and played fictional Chicago Cubs pitching coach Phil Brickma in Rookie of the Year.

Stern has since moved away from Hollywood, telling PEOPLE last year that he's enjoyed a life on his California ranch with his wife, Laure Mattos, the mother of his three children.

“I made enough money that I didn’t have to work,” he said. “I made enough money and I’m kind of frugal … I bought the house in cash. I bought the cars in cash. I bought everything straight up because as an artist, I never knew if [I was] going to make any more bread. And I said to my wife, ‘How much money do I need to sock in the bank so that we can live off the interest and so that I don’t have to work?’ She said, ‘We hit it.'”
