Paris Hilton Helps Florida Teacher’s Wish List Go Viral
What started as a simple Amazon wish list for classroom snacks and supplies has grown into a major community effort across Central Florida.
Triangle Elementary teacher Meagan Dewitz created the list in August to support her students. When Paris Hilton purchased items and shared the initiative online, donations poured in—expanding the effort to schools in Lake, Orange, and Seminole counties.
Dewitz and her husband now plan to launch a nonprofit called “Squirrel Around the World” after the holidays to keep the momentum going.
The impact:
- Hundreds of items have been donated, fulfilling most of the original list.
- The project evolved into a food pantry program helping families beyond Dewitz’s classroom.
What’s next:
The total number of students benefiting is still unclear, but the goal is to provide essentials and holiday gifts for as many as possible.
What they’re saying:
“I’m incredibly grateful for Paris Hilton’s kindness,” Dewitz said. “Most of the help has come from everyday people—families, teachers, and communities who simply wanted to make a difference.”
Principal Noris Aguayo added, “Thanks to her leadership and the generosity of Paris Hilton and others, our students will experience a joyful holiday season.”
